A famous Marseille publisher, Adrien Grenna, hosts a cultural event around Dumas on the Friuli Islands, with the highlight of the day being a play adapted from the Count of Monte Christo. In the middle of the performance, the corpse of the publisher is discovered on stage! A young captain of the judicial police of Marseille, Victor Mariani, is in charge of the investigation.
