Bárbara confirms to Rodrigo what he had feared most: she spent the night with Renato. This revelation also explains the deep anger Bárbara feels toward her mother. Paloma makes it clear to her daughter that she will continue fighting for Renato’s love, setting aside the hatred she feels over that decision, despite Porfirio’s premature death. Rodrigo confronts Renato, driven by the jealousy that Bárbara’s confession sparked when she revealed she had spent the night with him. However, Renato is not intimidated by Rodrigo’s abrupt outburst. Gustavo proposes a plan to Paloma so that both can benefit: Paloma gets Renato, while Gustavo manages to keep Bárbara’s lands by not settling the debt she owes him.
