Vlog #30 - Santa Anita Park

In which a woeful tale is told. Leave your morals below! http://thenerdwriter.tumblr.com/

There must be a hundred reasons why people love horse racing—because they love to see the horses run, they love to hear the drum beat of thirty odd hooves pound the dirt, the swell of excitement in the crowd as they come to the finish—because they love to gamble, love to wager some or all of their money on a sport which can pay large sums if you do it right, and which to them seems relatively knowable because you can know horses and jockeys and histories and shouldn't that give you an edge—because they love the atmosphere, going to the track, getting dressed up all luxurious and pretending to rekindle some of that class which characterized the early part of the previous century. Because at the track a mess is acceptable, drinking is encouraged, smoking isn't looked down upon, and the social hierarchy isn't awkwardly ignored, but celebrated and measured by the quality of so many fancy hats.
