Les invasions barbares, un mythe ?

La chute de l’Empire romain est un événement aussi mythique que fondateur marquant le passage de l’antiquité au Moyen Âge. L’Europe serait passée, d’un coup, d’un Empire romain glorieux où les citoyens en toge fréquentent de beaux édifices en marbre tandis que l’armée la plus puissante du monde se bat en jupette à… de purs pécores illettrés vivant dans des huttes sous la domination de seigneurs brutaux et de curés intégristes.
On explique souvent ce changement de manière simpliste : tout ça, ce serait à cause des invasions barbares ! On revient ensemble sur ce qu’il en est vraiment.
