Qui dit torture dit supplice, châtiment, hérétiques, cages en fer, roues crantées et pieux pointus… Bref, pas mal de clichés nourris par nos imaginaires, comme au cinéma par exemple, qui a fourni des scènes atroces, mais aussi fascinantes, comme des divertissements macabres plutôt cruels. Et ce cliché est encore pire quand on parle de la fameuse “torture chinoise”, complètement fantasmée par les occidentaux comme un truc hyper pervers, sophistiqué, et à la pointe de la cruauté. Mais est-ce que ça ne serait pas plus compliqué, comme par exemple “notre” Inquisition, qui torture parfois, mais qui reste avant tout une police de la pensée, qui contrôle les populations en se basant surtout sur une tonne de paperasses juridiques ? Peut-être qu’en Chine aussi, il y a eu une méthode d’interrogatoire, des lois, des réformes qui ont impacté la pratique de la torture ? C’est ce qu’on va voir aujourd'hui !
