Ron Novak est un jeune homme de 24 ans, vivant seul dans une ferme isolée avec ses trois chiens. Sa vie semble calme, et Ron est réellement heureux de la vie qu'il a. Mais en 1983, Ron commence à dire qu'il se sent observé. Il tombe même dans la paranoïa et affirme être convaincu que quelqu'un est entré chez lui par effraction. Personne ne prend vraiment les faits au sérieux jusqu'à ce qu'un beau jour, on le retrouve inanimé dans sa ferme. À partir de là, une grande enquête s'ouvre et beaucoup de choses sont révélées au grand jour.
