1K members

A young man is awestruck when he sees Happosai in action, and seeks out the Tendo Dojo, wishing to become a student of Anything Goes Martial Arts. The master accepts, and it soon becomes apparent that he's a very dedicated pupil... at bit too dedicated if you ask Ranma.

Ranma ½ (2024) Season 3 premieres October 4 on Netflix: why this is the anime comeback to track now

Ranma ½ (2024) Season 3 premieres in just 10 days, on October 4, 2026, on Netflix — and if you have been waiting for the right moment to jump back into the cold-water chaos, this is it. The new season arrives with the rare advantage of being both instantly accessible and delightfully unpredictable: two seasons, 24 episodes, a premise that still feels like nothing else on television, and a cast of characters built to turn every school day, family dinner and martial-arts challenge into romantic disaster. For anime fans planning their October watchlist, Ranma ½ (2024) should be near the top.

For anyone who drifted away after the earlier episodes, here is all you really need to remember before Season 3. Akane Tendo’s life changed when she was introduced to her arranged fiancé, Ranma Saotome, a brilliant martial artist raised in the most chaotic possible way by his father, Genma. Ranma’s problem — and the show’s genius hook — is that he transforms into a girl when splashed with cold water and changes back with hot water. That magical curse, combined with teenage pride, romantic jealousy, family pressure and constant martial-arts rivalries, makes every relationship more complicated than it needs to be.

The core dynamic remains Ranma and Akane: two stubborn, talented, emotionally guarded teens who are clearly drawn to each other, even when they would rather argue than admit it. Previous seasons established their reluctant engagement, their bruising sparring-partner chemistry and the parade of rivals and suitors who keep interrupting any chance of peace. Tatewaki Kuno’s grand delusions, Kodachi Kuno’s theatrical obsession, Shampoo’s explosive presence and Genma’s shameless scheming have all pushed the series into a perfect mix of fantasy, comedy, action and romance. You do not need a full rewatch to understand Season 3 — just remember that everyone wants something from Ranma, and Ranma is almost always making the situation worse.
