Two days after the Season 9 finale of Run BTS! dropped on October 11, 2026, ARMY is still talking about it. The second half of the group's two-part Toronto special closed out a season that was much more than a revival. "Run BTS! 2.0" proved that the show that started on August 1, 2015 still works for the seven members, after a three-year hiatus, mandatory military service and a full return to global superstardom. If you've just watched it, this is our debrief on what worked, which moments landed, and where the show could go next.
A comeback season worth the wait
To see why the finale mattered, remember where Season 9 began. Run BTS! went on hiatus in February 2023, when the members started their military service, and it was gone for more than three years. A teaser on March 30, 2026 showed the group brainstorming ideas for a "2.0" version. The intro episode followed on April 7, and the comeback began for real on April 23 with "BTS's TRIP EP.1: BTS's Room Assignment Saga." That premiere pulled in around 3 million views in its first ten hours, with viral moments like the room draw and a "zombie pillow fight." The trip arc continued with a punishing hour of kneeling with hands raised and "The Great Foot Volleyball Showdown." In June, "BTS Dinner Party 2.0" brought the FESTA anniversary spirit back. All of this happened around the release of their studio album Arirang and the huge Arirang World Tour, a busy year that also brought three MTV VMA wins, including their first Song of the Year for "SWIM."
