Die Antiquarin Katja Mey wird nachts vom Balkon ihrer Wohnung gestürzt. Hat eine gestohlene wertvolle Mittelalter-Handschrift, über die sie zuletzt recherchiert hat, etwas mit ihrem Tod zu tun? Sowohl der Chef der Toten als auch ihr Freund waren am Tatort. Sie haben zwar kein Alibi, aber auch kein Motiv. Ungewollte Unterstützung bekommt die SOKO in diesem Fall von der Hobbyermittlerin Camilla Hildebrand, die sich auf die richtige Spur und in höchste Gefahr begibt. Der Antiquariatsbesitzer Max Hartung wurde zur Tatzeit vor Katjas Haus gesehen. Was wollte er spätabends von seiner Angestellten? Statt eine Antwort zu liefern, bringt er Meys Freund Markus Vogel ins Spiel. Doch der gibt an, an dem besagten Abend gar nicht bei Katja gewesen zu sein. Außerdem waren die beiden glücklich und wollten in Kürze nach Neuseeland reisen.
