Die vermögende Unternehmerin Sylvia Meyer-Hölting wird in ihrem Haus erschlagen. Zunächst deutet alles darauf hin, dass Thomas Hölting, der Ehemann des Opfers, der Mörder ist. Schließlich hat ihn sein Stiefsohn Jakob Meyer vor der Leiche seiner Mutter überrascht. Ausgerechnet Jonas' Vater, der Anwalt Dr. Fischer, übernimmt die Verteidigung des Mordverdächtigen. Es gelingt ihm, Hölting trotz der scheinbar eindeutigen Indizien aus der Untersuchungshaft freizubekommen. Jonas will seinem Vater unbedingt beweisen, dass Hölting der Täter ist und verbeißt sich dabei zunehmend. Karin und Matti machen sich Sorgen: Ist Jonas dabei, die gebotene polizeiliche Objektivität aufzugeben?
