Der Mord an dem Immobilienmakler Marko Wild führt die SOKO in eine Welt aus Schieberei, Erpressung und Provisionen - den Leipziger Wohnungsmarkt. Jan und Leni, die ohnehin darüber nachdenken, eigenen Wohnraum zu erwerben, wohnen undercover für ein paar Tage in dem Viertel, in dem der Mord passierte, auf Probe. Erst hier, Tür an Tür mit den Nachbarn, erhält Jan Einblicke in die Ängste und Sorgen der Wohnungsbesitzer. Und er erfährt, dass sie erpresst werden: Eine Art Schutzgeldmafia weiß überraschend viel über die Ängste und Geheimnisse der Bewohner und setzt sie damit unter Druck. Steckt der Chef der Immobilienfirma, Johannes Barlow, dahinter? Barlow ist ein guter Freund von Dr. Woernle, dem Dezernatsleiter der SOKO Leipzig. Und plötzlich beginnt sich Woernle auffallend gründlich für den Fall zu interessieren.
