Start the countdown: Sweetpea Season 2 premieres on November 5, 2026, which is ten days from now. Two years after Ella Purnell turned a mousy local newspaper employee into one of TV's most unsettling antiheroines, the British dark comedy thriller is back with six new episodes. UK viewers get them first on Sky. Starz will release the season in the United States in early 2027. If you binged the first season in a weekend and have been waiting since, this is the week to get ready.
Sweetpea wasn't supposed to come back. It launched in October 2024 as a self-contained six-episode story, created by Kirstie Swain and loosely based on C.J. Skuse's novels. Word of mouth kept growing, and Sky and Starz renewed it for a second season. Purnell, who also serves as an executive producer, called Rhiannon's "coming-of-rage journey" a highlight of her career. After the season one finale, it's easy to see why the story had more to tell.
A quick recap for anyone whose memory of Carnsham has faded. Rhiannon Lewis was the person nobody noticed. Colleagues at the Carnsham Gazette walked right past her, she kept missing out on promotions, and the man she liked wouldn't commit. Then her father died, she snapped, and she found that every name crossed off her mental kill list seemed to make her life better. The show's trick is that the murders feel liberating at first. Things start to unravel when the people around her get closer to the truth. Those people include Julia (Nicôle Lecky of Wild Cherry), the girl who bullied her at school, sleazy co-worker Craig (Jon Pointing), the unflappable Norman (Ted Lasso favourite Jeremy Swift) and Marina (Leah Harvey of Foundation), who is investigating the killings. The finale is the part you most need to remember. AJ, Rhiannon's seemingly perfect boyfriend, played by Calam Lynch of Bridgerton, saw who she really was and called her a monster. Rhiannon answered in the only way she knows. That word is the starting point for Season 2.
