Eigentlich wollte Kommissar Palu von der Kripo Saarbrücken nur in aller Ruhe mit seiner Freundin Ingrid zum Eishockey. Doch während des Spiels ereignet sich im Stadion ein Mord. Bald darauf wird die Sekretärin des Vereins in ihrem Büro erschlagen aufgefunden. Es versteht sich von selbst, dass Palu, sehr zum Ärger seiner Freundin, sofort mit den Ermittlungen beginnt. Da die Tageseinnahmen fehlen, deutet zunächst alles auf Raubmord hin, doch stößt Palu bei seinen Nachforschungen auf dubiose Verbindungen von Sport, Politik und Korruption - ein Sumpf, in dem es plötzlich noch ganz andere mögliche Täter und Motive für diesen Mord zu geben scheint.
