Am Aasee gab es einen spektakulären Leichenfund. Unmengen von Rotwein und Trüffeln hat Rechtsmediziner Prof. Karl-Friedrich Boerne (Jan Josef Liefers) bei der Obduktion im Magen der Toten gefunden. Der Fall erinnert stark an den skandalumwitterten Rohrbach-Mord in den 50er Jahren. War er die Vorlage für das Verbrechen? Auf Druck der Staatanwältin Wilhelmine Klemm (Mechthild Großmann) nimmt Kommissar Frank Thiel (Axel Prahl) seine Ermittlungen auf. Eine Spur führt ihn zu dem Geschwister-Paar Sigbert Helmhövel (Karl Kranzkowski) und Monika Hanke-Helmhövel (Rosel Zech), einer Bäuerin. Die Studentin Laura Schrott (Tanja Schleiff) hatte ihre Freundin Solveig Helmhövel bei der Polizei als vermisst gemeldet. Sigbert Helmhövel hingegen wähnt seine Ehefrau im Urlaub auf Madeira. Derweil erscheint Dr. Oleg Buykov (Mark Zak), ein zwielichtiger ukrainischer Geschäftsmann, bei der Polizei. Die Personenbeschreibung der Leiche passe genau auf seine Frau. Und tatsächlich identifiziert Buykov die Leiche wenig später als Olga Buykova (Marina Weis-Burgaslieva). Doch Thiel bleibt skeptisch. Da geschieht ein zweiter Mord.
