Vor der norwegischen Küste geht einem deutschen Fischerboot eine Leiche ins Netz. Der Tote ist vermutlich der zweite Offizier des Containerschiffes MS Karina, Radek Jankowski, der offenbar aber nicht vermisst wird. Zu Inga Lürsens und Stedefreunds Erstaunen sind weder die Wasserschutzpolizei noch die zuständige Reederei in Bremerhaven zur Mithilfe bereit. Als die MS Karina dann auch noch den Containerhafen verlässt, bevor die Kommissare an Bord ermitteln können, wird es Inga zu bunt.
Während Stedefreund in Bremerhaven ermittelt, fährt sie per Polizeiboot dem Containerschiff nach und begibt sich an Bord, um den Kapitän zum Umkehren zu bewegen. Doch der lässt sich gar nichts sagen, schon gar nicht von einer Frau. Auch die restliche Crew beäugt die Kommissarin mit Argwohn. Schon bald weiß Inga, dass der Mörder noch an Bord sein muss...
