Der letzte „Tatort" mit Andrea Sawatzki und Jörg Schüttauf als Frankfurter Ermittlerteam: In ihrem 18. Fall versuchen die beiden Kommissare Charlotte Sänger und Fritz Dellwo die Unschuld ihres Ex-Chefs Rudi Fromm zu beweisen, der unter Mordverdacht steht.
Zum Inhalt: Nach 20 Jahren wird Nick Graf aus der Haft entlassen. In den 70er und 80er Jahren hat er mit seiner Frau Gina eine Serie von brutalen Banküberfällen begangen. Jetzt ist er todkrank und hat nichts mehr zu verlieren. Graf hat nur noch einen Gedanken: Bevor er stirbt, will er sich an Rudi Fromm, der ihn damals verhaftet hat, rächen. Obwohl Fromm inzwischen im Ruhestand ist, nimmt er den Kampf auf; er taucht unter und will Graf auf eigene Faust finden. Fritz Dellwo und Charlotte Sänger versuchen alles, um Fromm aufzuspüren und das Schlimmste zu verhindern. Bei der Suche nach Graf und Fromm erfahren sie Dinge über ihren Chef, von denen sie bisher keine Ahnung hatten. Als der Verdacht aufkommt, dass Rudi Fromm selbst ein Mörder sein könnte, wehrt sich Dellwo vehement gegen diese Vorstellung.
