Erst mal ist es nur eine kurze Befragung. Die Kommissare Thorsten Lannert und Sebastian Bootz ermitteln im Mordfall des Anlageberaters Uwe Berger und wollen von Jakob Gregorowicz wissen, warum sein Name im Terminkalender des Ermordeten stand. Ein Irrtum, antwortet Jakob, er sei keineswegs mit dem Opfer verabredet gewesen, und glaubt die Sache damit erledigt.
Doch schon bald können die Kommissare ihm nachweisen, dass seine Aussage unvollständig war. Sie bohren immer weiter nach, reden auch mit seiner Frau Katharina. Jakob meint, plausible Erklärungen zu liefern, aber es tauchen neue Unstimmigkeiten auf. Da hilft es auch nicht, dass er versucht, Spuren zu beseitigen. Im Gegenteil, immer wieder bitten die Kommissare ihn zum Gespräch ins Präsidium, weil sie neue Indizien finden. Bald stellt auch Katharina Fragen, sie bekommt Zweifel an den Aussagen ihres Mannes.
