Fasching in München. Auf einer Treppe am Isarhochufer wird die Leiche eines 70-jährigen Mannes gefunden. Eine erste Spur führt zu „Irmis Stüberl“, wo sich der Mann zuvor scheinbar mit einem kostümierten Faschingsgast gestritten hat. Wichtigster Zeuge der Auseinandersetzung ist ein „Rotkäppchen“, das für eine Befragung an diesem Abend jedoch eindeutig zu betrunken ist. Batic und Leitmayr nehmen es deshalb kurzerhand mit.
