Vera Lanz (Katharina Böhm) is a detective with the Munich homicide unit. Four years ago her husband, also a police officer, was killed. Andreas Lanz allegedly stole money while undercover and shot a colleague while on the run before being killed during his arrest.

Vera has apparently concluded with this dark chapter - and enjoys life to the fullest. She has an affair with the married prosecutor Berger (Stephan Kampwirth), which does not stop her from flirting a bit with her new colleague Jan Trompeter (Stefan Rudolf).
