RJ Decker Season 2 Premieres September 15 on Disney+: Bank Heists, Old Ghosts and South Florida Trouble Ahead

RJ Decker Season 2 premieres in 14 days, on September 15, 2026, on Disney+, and the timing could not be better for viewers who like their crime stories sunburned, slippery and just a little dangerous. After a tight 9-episode first season, the Carl Hiaasen and Rob Doherty series is returning with a premise that sounds tailor-made for a bigger, messier second run: a reunion with an old prison acquaintance pulls R.J. into a string of daring bank heists, just as the fallout from Victor Ochoa’s death continues to deepen. In other words, Season 2 is not easing viewers back in. It is kicking the door open.

For anyone who watched Season 1 but needs a quick refresher, here is what matters most before the premiere: R.J. Decker, played by Scott Speedman, is an ex-con photographer who reinvented himself as a private investigator in South Florida. He is not a polished detective in the classic sense; he is observant, damaged, opportunistic when he needs to be, and often one bad decision away from disaster. Around him is a combustible support system: his journalist ex Catherine Delacroix, played by Adelaide Clemens; Catherine’s cop wife Emi Ochoa, played by Jaina Lee Ortiz; the unpredictable Aloysius “Wish” Aiken, played by Kevin Rankin; and Melody “Mel” Abreu, played by Bevin Bru. Their alliances are useful, complicated and never entirely safe.

The key emotional and narrative pressure point heading into Season 2 is the death of Victor Ochoa. That event is not just background mythology; according to the Season 2 premiere setup, its consequences are still spreading. That is good news for viewers who want more than a case-of-the-week reset. The new season appears ready to use Victor’s death as an engine for suspicion, grief, professional conflict and moral compromise, especially for characters connected to law enforcement and journalism. Emi Ochoa’s position as a cop gives the story an immediate tension: she is close enough to the damage to care deeply, but also close enough to the system to be trapped by procedure, loyalty and secrets.
