Al centro ci sono i primi soccorritori della 113 e le famiglie che vivono accanto a loro, costrette a gestire non solo incendi, incidenti e chiamate impossibili, ma anche conflitti privati che spesso bruciano più delle emergenze sul campo. La prima stagione, composta da 18 episodi, ha costruito un equilibrio efficace tra l’action procedurale e il melodramma familiare, presentando Nashville come una metropoli multiculturale, musicale e contraddittoria, dove potere, reputazione e sentimenti si intrecciano costantemente.
Il cuore della serie resta Don Hart, interpretato da Chris O’Donnell, volto amatissimo dai fan di NCIS: Los Angeles per il ruolo di G. Callen e già visto anche in Grey’s Anatomy nei panni di Finn Dandridge. Captain Don Hart è il tipo di leader che il franchise 9-1-1 sa raccontare bene: competente, istintivo, protettivo, ma anche vulnerabile quando il lavoro entra in collisione con la famiglia. Accanto a lui troviamo Blythe Hart, interpretata da Jessica Capshaw, indimenticabile Arizona Robbins di Grey’s Anatomy, qui alle prese con una dimensione più ruvida e conflittuale. La dinamica tra Don e Blythe è uno dei punti di forza dello show, perché aggiunge peso emotivo alle sequenze di soccorso e rende ogni scelta professionale una possibile frattura domestica.
