Dame Joanna Lumley was born in India in 1946.
She attended boarding school in the UK before beginning a career in modelling in the 1960s.
She transitioned into acting with early roles in Coronation Street and The New Avengers before becoming a household name as Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous-a role that earned her three BAFTA awards.
Joanna loves to travel and is celebrated for her
TV documentaries exploring Japan, India, the Nile, the Silk Road, and the Trans-Siberian Railway. In film, she lent her voice to Tim Burton animations, including Corpse Bride, James & the Giant Peach, and starred in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street.
