Skyrim is a game of many competing factions and states, and perhaps one of the most notable entities in the world of The Elder Scrolls 5 is the Septim Empire. Once a mighty kingdom that ruled over the known world, by the time Skyrim finally takes place, the Empire is but a measly shadow of her former self, desperately attempting to hang on to what little power it has left. To many Dragonborns, the Empire remains a symbol of hope and prosperity, the world’s last safeguard against the forces of the Thalmor and their Third Aldermi Dominion. To others, the Empire has already fallen and Skyrim should find its own path. Whatever you believe, it’s hard to deny the impressive impact the Imperials have on Skyrim and have had on the entire Elder Scrolls universe.
