When you watch a film, you’ll notice that while there is usually a main protagonist and main antagonist, the conflict is more dense than this. Other characters are present in the story to challenge the protagonist in different ways.

Creating a simple Protagonist vs. Antagonist story is why many stories end up feeling formulaic. As if the story is painted by numbers. But there’s a better way to flesh out the conflict within your story: Four Corner Opposition.
