In *Rust en Vreugd*, we follow the city-dweller Emma (Annet Malherbe), who, after the unexpected loss of her husband Thomas, discovers that—after years on a waiting list—he has finally been granted a garden plot at the allotment complex Rust & Vreugd. Although she hates gardening, she decides to accept the plot anyway in order to fulfill Thomas’s dream and to hold on to him a little longer.
