The Gazette jumps on board and backs the girls in their fight with the factory and Jones accuses Deirdre of being a left wing busy body. Maurice threatens to break the Recorder if Ken doesn't get Deirdre off his back. Ken refuses and advises Deirdre to try the D of E. Gail fears that Martin is becoming over-enthusiastic about their affair. However, she decides to move Martin in Sarah Louise's room for appearances sake just when Nicky comes down with the mumps.
