The Fabulous Buchannon Boys

Mitch convinces Kaye to write a piece about the San Dimas Pier in her new paper The Venice Voice. The structure is condemned and foolish surfers lie to challenge each other to ""shoot the pier"". However, no one wants to pay for the pier's demolition. But Kaye is persuaded by her father Ellis Morgan to hold off on the story. Her father's law firm is representing the owners of the pier.
Meanwhile, Mitch and Hobie attend an annual ceremony that strives to invoke good waves of surfing. At the ceremony, they are reunited with Mitch's brother Buzz and his unknown son Kyle. Buzz has just found out about Kyle. Kyle lost his mother in a car-crash. She was driving her motorcycle when it happened and Kyle was right behind her. Kyle encourages Hobie to join him for some surfing at the San Dimas Pier. By doing so, Hobie doesn't show up for Junior Lifeguards. However, they can't surf there because a scarab on patrol in the area telling the crowd to stay away from the pier.
