S1 E2: This Week in Spaceflight History - STS-61-C (SILTS)(Jan 12, 1986)

Each week I take The Orbital Mechanics podcast's series "This week in Spaceflight History" and I recreate the mission in Kerbal Space Program with my friend Uncle Dad. This week's mission occurred on Jan 12, 1986. A notable event was the addition of an instrument known as SILTS (Shuttle Infrared Leeside Temperature Sensing) which used an infrared camera to observe the reentry heating on the shuttle's left wing and part of its fuselage.

(Sorry for the technical difficulties. We had to restart the stream 3 times)

Tune in LIVE ever Wednesday at 9:00 Central (3:00 UTC) to join the action at http://twitch.tv/everydayastronaut

Make sure and check out the Orbital Mechanics Podcast each week to get the run down on the mission!
