Frank Oz
Frank Richard Oznowicz, beruflich bekannt als Frank Oz, ist ein US-amerikanischer Puppenspieler, Filmemacher und Schauspieler.
Trotz seines Interesses am Journalismus verfolgte er eine Karriere als Puppenspieler, als er 1963 von der Jim Henson Company eingestellt wurde. Dort verkörperte er verschiedene Fernsehfiguren wie Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bär, Animal und Sam Eagle in der Muppet Show (1976–1981) sowie Krümelmonster, Bert und Grover in der Sesamstraße (1969–2013). Er wurde von George Lucas für die Rolle des Yoda in der Star Wars-Filmreihe engagiert, beginnend mit „Das Imperium schlägt zurück“ (1980). Oz wiederholte die Rolle über mehr als vier Jahrzehnte in sieben weiteren Filmen und verschiedenen Medien.
Oz ist auch für seine herausragende Arbeit als Filmemacher bekannt und führte Regie bei Filmen wie „Der dunkle Kristall“ (1982), „Die Muppets erobern Manhattan“ (1984), „Der kleine Horrorladen“ (1986), „Zwei hinreissend verdorbene Schurken“ (1988), „Was ist mit Bob?“ (1991), „Der Indianer im Küchenschrank“ (1995), „Bowfinger“ (1999), „The Score“ (2001), „Die Frauen von Stepford“ (2004) und „Sterben für Anfänger“ (2007) sowie bei einer Folge der Serie „Leverage“ (2011).
