In 25 minütigen Episoden, alle in Schwarz-Weiß, wurden verschiedene Geschichten über die fünfte Dimension gezeigt, unerklärliche Phänomene, die auch nicht aufgelöst wurden bzw. werden konnten. Alle Geschichten waren in sich abgeschlossen, standen in keinem Zusammenhang miteinander, und wechselnde Darsteller spielten die Hauptrollen. Rod Serling führte als Moderator in die Filme ein.

159 Folgen dieser Reihe liefen mit Erfolg in den USA, eine Einzelfolge zeigte die ARD 1961. 13 Folgen starteten knapp sechs Jahre später im ZDF, sie liefen immer donnerstags um 18.50 Uhr. Das Bayerische Fernsehen zeigte später 24 Episoden unter dem Titel Geschichten, die nicht zu erklären sind.

Anfang der 90er Jahre kramte Pro Sieben noch einmal 33 Folgen aus und zeigte sie in deutscher Erstausstrahlung unter dem ursprünglichen deutschen Titel. Zu dieser Zeit liefen bei RTL bereits neue Folgen in Farbe unter dem Originaltitel Twilight Zone, die in den USA ab 1985 entstanden waren und damit die ein Vierteljahrhundert alte Serie wiederbelebt hatten.

C'est un réel plaisir de revoir cette série avec les yeux qui ont vu défiler 58 ans depuis ses débuts. Ce qui me frappe le plus, c'est le physique des hommes qui sont bien plus mince et n'ont pas du tout les gabarits body-buildingien d'aujourd'hui. Et qu'est-ce que cette série peut être rafraîchissante par sa naïveté d'époque.

tout est dit plus bas . je me souvenais de la série au delà du réel, dans mon enfance . ma copine m'a parlé de cette série qui faisait encore partie de son enfance à elle alors qu'elle est née deux ou trois ans après la fin de la série... c'est dire le succès qu'elle a dû avoir ( la série, pas ma copine, hein ! :p ). du coup je me suis plongé dedans a raison d'une demi douzaine d’épisodes par jour il m'aura fallu près de deux semaines pour tout visionner. les épisodes durent environ 25-30 mn avec le générique sauf pour la saison 4 ou il y a moins d’épisodes mais ils durent une 50aine de minutes.

une série culte qui a pres de 60 ans! les origines de la SF, du fantastique, de l'horreur ou simplement de l'étrange et du thriller!!! les séries que nous avons maintenant lui doivent, à mon avis, presque tout! bien sur il y a des épisodes totalement désuets mais il y en a encore une grande quantité que l'on peut regarder sans s'ennuyer une seconde!!! certains épisodes pourraient donner naissance à des séries encore maintenant tellement ils restent d'actualité! le fil conducteur de la série? on ne sait jamais comment va se terminer l'épisode et souvent on est pris à contre-pied! ca dure entre 20 et 30mn je crois et ca vous capte étrangement... jetez y un oeil, vous verrez... vous y retournerez...

Ce fut un plaisir de suivre tous les épisodes. Évidemment, ça date. Mais ça reste regardable et intéressant. A voir pour tout amateur de SF/fantastique.
