Het is een stralende dag op het racecircuit waar amateurcoureur en Officier van Justitie Simon den Oever, racet alsof zijn leven ervan afhangt.

De remmen van Simon blijken gesaboteerd en hij verongelukt in een flinke crash. Terwijl Valentijn oog in oog staat met een reusachtige grizzlybeer, belt Suze hem.

Simon den Oever was Suzes mentor. Het ongeluk op het circuit was volgens haar geen ongeluk en Suze weet dat Valentijn bevriend is met een getuige van het ongeluk. Suze heeft een verdachte op het oog en stuurt Valentijn op onderzoek uit.

Hij ontdekt dat de verdachte meedoet aan de Vlinderrally richting Evian-Les-Bains in Frankrijk en besluit zelf ook mee te doen met zijn eigen wagen en als navigator... Suze besluit met gevaar voor haar carrière mee te gaan met Valentijn.
