Simon Bolivar, le héros des indépendances de l'Amérique espagnole

Quand on parle du plus vaste des empires du monde, on pense souvent à l’Empire britannique ou à l’Empire romain. Pourtant il y a d’autres empires qui ont marqué l’histoire, comme l’Empire espagnol, qui était le plus vaste de la Terre au XVIIIe siècle. Pourtant, tout a basculé au début du XIXe siècle : en l’espace de vingt-cinq ans, la quasi-totalité des colonies espagnoles d’Amérique ont proclamé leur indépendance pour former les États-Nations que nous connaissons aujourd’hui. Même s’il vaut mieux éviter d’en attribuer tout le mérite à un seul homme, puisque ces indépendances sont des processus longs et complexes, il faut tout de même reconnaître qu’un homme a eu le premier rôle dans cette histoire : Simon Bolivar.
