Avez-vous déjà fait une rencontre complètement improbable, du genre croiser dans la rue un ami pas vu depuis 10 ans, ou retrouver un compatriote dans un pays très lointain ? Parce que niveau rendez-vous choc, il y en a au moins un qui bat tout le monde, c’est sûr ! Faut imaginer : nous sommes en 326 avant notre ère, au cœur du petit royaume de Paurava, dans le Pakistan actuel, à la porte des Indes. Une poignée de paysans inspectent les rives du fleuve Hydaspe, qui déborde à cause des neiges de l’Himalaya. Soudain, ils tombent sur… des dizaines de milliers de soldats, de toutes les couleurs et de toutes les origines. À leur tête, se tient un étranger : le Macédonien Alexandre le Grand. Mais tout à coup de l’autre côté du fleuve, arrive une autre armée : 60.000 soldats et des centaines d’éléphants de guerre, menés par le roi Poros !
