Comment les Anglais ont-ils colonisé l'Inde ? (1757-1947)

L’empire colonial anglais a été gigantesque, et encore aujourd'hui, le roi d’Angleterre a 15 couronnes de royaumes autonomes, mais tous membres d’une alliance commerciale : le Commonwealth. Alors comment les Anglais ont-ils dominé la planète ? Et surtout, pourquoi fonder un état aussi grand, "l'empire où le soleil ne se couche jamais”, comme on disait à l’époque ? Je vous propose de comprendre l’empire à travers un cas particulier : l’Inde. C’est aujourd'hui une république, mais autrefois la reine d’Angleterre Victoria a été proclamée à Delhi en 1877 « impératrice des Indes ». Avec 200 ans de présence britannique là-bas, il y a toute une histoire à découvrir !
