Les guerres puniques : le grand conflit entre Rome et Carthage

À votre avis, quelle est la plus importante guerre de l’Histoire ? Moi, je n’ai pas d’opinion. Certains vont se focaliser sur la durée, genre la Guerre de Cent Ans. D’autres, sur les morts ou l’armement, auquel cas les deux Guerres Mondiales remportent largement la palme. Et puis il y a tout ceux qui vont se focaliser sur un “grand conquérant”, type Genghis Khan ou Alexandre le Grand. Sauf que si leurs empires sont étendus, la guerre n’a parfois pas duré si longtemps, et certains adversaires, sans vrai État bien constitué, se sont intégrés sans faire d’histoire. Bref : moi, je n’ai toujours pas d’avis. Mais certains historiens de l’Antiquité ont leur petite idée : un conflit qui a duré 118 ans, qui ne compte pas une, ni deux, mais bien trois guerres, et qui n’oppose pas des nations ou des royaumes… mais carrément deux empires, qui ne se battent pas pour trouver un compromis, mais pour détruire entièrement l’adversaire ! Aujourd'hui, je vous présente les Guerres Puniques, qui ont opposé Rome à Carthage !
