Comment on se réveillait avant l'invention du réveil ?

Qu’est-ce qui me fait me lever tous les matins ? Bien sûr : la famille, la chaîne, le travail… ou même parfois la perspective d’une bonne journée de vacances, si si, ça m’arrive ! Mais même avec toute la motivation du monde, j’avoue que parfois, il me faut un bon réveil-matin, sinon c’est impossible de bouger ! Sauf que pendant des millénaires, l’humanité vivait dans un monde sans horloge, sans portable, où l’on se fiait tout simplement au soleil et au cycle du jour et de la nuit. Alors… comment on faisait avant l’invention du réveil ? Contrairement à ce qu’on pourrait penser, c’est une question très vaste, parce qu’en fait l’invention du tout premier réveil individuel date d’il y a pas longtemps : tout juste la révolution industrielle !
