Freitag gegen Mitternacht
Im Wissenschaftszentrum feiern der Chemiker Dr. Lorenz und seine Kollegen ausgelassen den erfolgreichen Abschluss einer Forschungsarbeit. Plötzlich schrillt die Alarmglocke durch das sonst leere Haus. Jemand hat versucht, in den Kassenraum einzubrechen. Als die Wächter den flüchtigen Täter stellen, sind sie und die herbeigeeilten Kollegen fassungslos. Es ist Dr. Lorenz, auf dessen Erfolg sie gerade angestoßen haben und dessen Verhalten ihnen ein Rätsel ist. Lorenz versucht, seine Handlung mit Überarbeitung und Trunkenheit zu erklären. Doch der Bluttest ergibt lediglich 1,2 Promille und stellt damit eine der beiden angegebenen Ursachen bedenklich in Zweifel.
