Am Schluß von «Bedenkzeit» läßt Oberleutnant Zimmermann den anfänglich der Tat verdächtigen Jürgen Seidler (Wolf-Dieter Lingk) wegen erwiesener Unschuld zwar frei, weist ihn aber nachdrücklich darauf hin, daß er sich bei ihm für das halbe Jahr Untersuchungshaft, das Seidler unschuldig verbüßen mußte, nicht entschuldige, denn der habe ja durch seine Aussage, in der er die Schuld aus Rücksicht auf seinen jüngeren Bruder auf sich genommen hatte, die Ermittlungen erschwert und damit seine Strafe selbst verschuldet.
Der kleine Bruder hatte mit dem Motorrad des großen Bruders einen Kunsthändler überfahren und Fahrerflucht begangen. Hier will sich der jüngere Bruder vom älteren, der ihn aufgezogen hat und ihn nach seinem Vorbild prägen will, befreien, und sei es um den Preis, daß der für ein Verbrechen, das er nicht begangen hat, in den Knast muß.
