Bei Umbauarbeiten am Elternhaus von Jutta Berenbrock wird hinter einer Mauer die skelettierte Leiche eines Mannes gefunden. Die Identifizierung erweist sich für die SOKO 5113 als schwierig, immerhin muss der Tote dort bereits seit fast zwanzig Jahren gelegen haben. Aber weder Rolf Hädrich, der ehemalige Besitzer des Hauses, noch dessen Freund Gerd Vogel, der damalige Bauunternehmer, können sich den Leichenfund erklären.
Noch während der ersten Ermittlungen bekommen es Arthur Bauer und sein Team mit einem weiteren Todesfall zu tun: Doris Weinhold, eine ältere Frau, stürzt auf der Kellertreppe in den Tod. Ein Unfall, wie sich herausstellt, der aber einige mysteriöse Merkmale aufweist und mit dem Fall des Knochenmannes in Verbindung zu stehen scheint ....
