Der erfolgreiche Chef der Jacob-Augenklinik, Prof. Dr. Jacob, wird im Park seiner Klinik erschossen. Zeugin ist die blinde Patientin Sieglinde Eberty, die präzise Angaben macht. Franz Ainfachnur nimmt sich der blinden Dame an, während Toni Bischoff zweifelt, ob sie wirklich so exakt hat mitbekommen können, wie der Mord vonstattenging. In der Klinik scheint es eine Reihe Kollegen mit Motiv zu geben: Jacob war ein selbstverliebtes Ekel. Die Trauer der Frau des Opfers, Ortrun Jacob, hält sich in Grenzen. Und sein Compagnon Dr. Rainer Behm glaubt, nun endlich auch etwas des Ruhmes einheimsen zu können, den bisher Prof. Jacob für sich allein beansprucht hat. Gemeinsam haben sie nämlich eine bahnbrechende Operationsmethode für Blinde entwickelt, die deren Sehfähigkeit wiederherstellen könnte.
