Die SOKO wird zu einer ausgebrannten Druckerei gerufen. Alle Zeichen deuten auf Brandstiftung. Der Feuerwehrmann Constantin Kilian hat dabei den Tod gefunden. Bei genauerer Untersuchung stellt sich aber heraus, dass Kilian einem Angriff zum Opfer gefallen ist. Nutznießer der Brandstiftung ist in erster Linie Gerd Novak, der seine marode Druckerei nun von der Versicherung bezahlt bekommt. Aber Novak leugnet beharrlich, etwas damit zu tun zu haben. Dann gibt es auch noch den notorischen Brandstifter Norbert Lange, der unlängst aus der Haft entlassen worden ist. Alle Indizien deuten darauf hin, dass der Brand auf Langes Kosten geht, zumindest nach seinem typischen Muster gelegt worden ist.
