Nous sommes le 19 septembre 1989. Un vol régulier d’UTA, en provenance de Brazzaville au Congo, repart de N’Djamena, au Tchad, vers Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle. L’avion monte, croise à 35000 pieds d’altitude, ce qui est habituel pour un avion de ligne. À 12h59, temps universel, l’avion disparait. Les centres de contrôle déclenchent les procédures d’urgence et, au matin du 20 septembre, les équipes de recherche repèrent un vaste champ de débris dans le désert. Les 170 personnes à bord, 156 passagers et 14 membres d’équipage, ont péri.

C’est le début d’une affaire longue et médiatique, aux répercutions encore récentes jusqu’au plus haut sommet de l’Etat français. Aujourd’hui, nous revenons sur l’affaire du “DC-10 d’UTA”.
