The dolphin, often seen as the ocean’s icon, is a protected species. Yet it faces grave threats on several fronts. In the wild, dolphins are caught in fishing nets in the Bay of Biscay, jeopardising their survival. Despite repeated warnings from the European Commission, French authorities have not legislated. This battle unfolds before our eyes; many turn away. Yet how can we ignore it? The fishing industry operates at full capacity during the critical months when dolphins are most abundant along our coasts.
