The individual who commits a major crime and is deemed worthy of the punishment of heroism receives the most appalling sanction: he or she is obliged to return to life and continue fighting in the front line of the army against the demon king, even if killed by opponents. The battalions of punishing heroes are made up exclusively of eccentrics, including a frenzied warrior who hasn't stopped fighting for centuries, the most terrible stealth thief of all time, a deceitful political prisoner, a self-declared terrorist of the king and an unsuccessful hitman.
In the midst of the conflict, the former commander of the sacred knights, Zairo Folberts, himself punished for the crime of "murdering the goddess", meets Theoritta, the goddess of the sword, whose existence had been kept secret until now. When they seal a pact, a story of precarious but fierce heroism begins to unfold, one that will transform a world engulfed by despair.
