Water, earth, fire, air. Benders posses the ability to manipulate one of the elements associated with the four nations: the adaptable Water Tribes, the enduring Earth Kingdom, the headstrong Fire Nation, and the spiritual Air Nomads.
Only one has the ability to bend all four elements: The Avatar. The Avatar is the bridge between the mortal and spirit world, maintaining balance in both realms and among the four nations. After death, their spirit reincarnates into the next nation, providing a spiritual connection to their past lives.
After the death of Roku, the last known Avatar, Fire Lord Sozin harnessed the power of a comet to unleash a devastating attack on the Air Nation, hoping to capture the next Avatar as an inexperienced youth and halt the cycle. When Sozin wiped out the Air Nomads, the Water and Earth nations fought back, sparking the Great War. With the Avatar missing for the last hundred years, hope fades that the Fire Nation will ever be stopped.
It’s now up to the Water Tribe siblings Katara and Sokka to assemble the prepubescent Team Avatar, seek out Bending Masters, and knock over cabbage carts to defeat Fire Lord Ozai’s team of a dishonored prince, crazy princess entourage, and tea-loving uncle before summer’s end.
