Set in Amsterdam during World War II, the series follows Etty Hillesum, a young Jewish woman whose diaries reveal an extraordinary journey of spiritual awakening and resilience in the face of Nazi persecution. As the occupation intensifies and deportations begin, Etty chooses to work at the Westerbork transit camp, helping others while documenting her thoughts, fears and hopes. Through her writings, she struggles to preserve compassion, faith and humanity in a world collapsing around her.
