Mars Opportunity Rover landing! This Week in Spaceflight History S2:E1

I team up with my friend, Uncle Dad, who knows NOTHING about space (like scary little) and teach him about space using Kerbal Space Program! Today's mission is NASA's Opportunity Rover!

14 years ago, TODAY-ish, the ultimate long distance Mars rover landed on the surface of Mars. After a perfect launch on July 7th, 2003 on a Delta II Heavy, the plucky little rover made it's picture perfect touchdown on Mars on January 25th, 2004.

It's original mission was only intended to last 90 Earth days, but guess what, it's still going TODAY, exceeding its original planned mission by 13 years and 273 days!
