LIVE Hosting - NASA GOES-S Rocket Launch (ULA Atlas V)

Today ULA (United Launch Alliance) is launching their mighty Atlas V rocket in the 541 configuration (5 meter fairing, 4 solid rocket boosters, 1 engine centaur upper stage) to deliver the GOES-S satellite for the NOAA/NASA.

This is launching from Cape Canaveral Air Force Base at ULA's Space Launch Complex 41. Lift off is scheduled for 5:02 PM Eastern (2202 UTC) Thursday, March 1st, 2018.

The 5,211 KG (11,488 pound) GOES-S Satellite is manufactured by Lockheed Martin and will be heading out to a geostationary orbit around 35,000 km's or 22,000 miles in altitude, covering the western United States and Pacific ocean. It will look also help track typhoons, wildfires and fog.
