About Crash Bandicoot:

Crash Bandicoot was created by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin at Naughty Dog for Sony. Crash Bandicoot is a cartoon bandicoot, or marsupial, who was originally intended as a mascot of the Sony game platform, equivalent to Sonic the Hedge or Nintendo’s Mario. It was originally launched exclusively on the PlayStation. Since inception, Crash Bandicoot has launched on multiple platforms and shipping over 50 million copies worldwide. While Crash Bandicoot was originally launched solely on Playstation, Crash Bandicoot video games are now prolific across videogame platforms, including Nintendo DS and Gamecube, Sony Playstations, and Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360.


Backstory:

Crash Bandicoot is a popular title character in the Crash Bandicoot video game series.
In the popular Crash Bandicoot video game series, Crash Bandicoot frequently faces off against his archrival, Doctor Neo Cortex, a mad scientist bent on world domination. In most versions of this game, Crash Bandicoot must stop Doctor Neo Cortex all costs. This popular action adventure game is often set in the fictional Wumpa Islands, set on the archipelagos of Australia.

Gameplay:

Crash Bandicoot is a platform series where the goal is to guide Crash through the courses to beat the levels. There are two playable views where the player guides Crash left to right or through the screen in an almost 3D like manner. Crash can run, jump or spin through creatures and obstacles. There are many crates and items that Crash can gain which give him special abilities and powers.

Reviews and Awards:

-Crash Bandicoot sold more than 50 million game units worldwide as of 2007
-The first Crash Bandicoot was named the seventh best selling PlayStation game of all time selling more than 6.8 million units by 2003

Future Developments:

The creators of Crash Bandicoot have discussed the potential for a total reboot of the Crash Bandicoot series for the 21st century.

Neo Periwinkle Cortex was born to a family of circus clowns, but shunned entertaining others in favor of scientific study. At three, a group of performers tattooed an N on his forehead, for “Nerd.” After a freak explosion left Cortex without a family, he enrolled at Madame Amberly’s Academy of Evil where he met the timid Nitrus Brio.

Even in adulthood, Dr. Cortex was still ridiculed by those around him. So to show those egg heads he has what it takes, he hatches a plot to take over the world.

With the help of Dr. Brio and his Evolvo-ray, a device that can zap animals up the evolutionary chain, Cortex creates an army of mutated animals and chooses Crash Bandicoot to lead them.

Of course, you can't just expect animals to do your bidding, and who has the time or patience to train them? So naturally, the second step is to brainwash them all with the Cortex Vortex... except it doesn’t work on Crash.

Crash escapes, but must leave behind his girlfriend Tawna. After washing ashore on N. Sanity Beach, Crash meets and frees a witch doctor spirit mask named Aku Aku.

Now with Aku Aku’s guidance, Crash must stop pollution, save his girlfriend, and foil Cortex's plans for world domination all the while collecting floating apples.
