In 2014, after the discovery of magic and its ability to be a source of unlimited energy for humans, the secretive Gear Project was born with the purpose of advancing evolution and strengthening the human race. The first Gear, an artificial magical creature, was created by converting a project member named Frederick, But he escaped and the members of the project disappeared.

Nearly sixty years later, the mysterious gearmaker known only as That Man created Justice, the perfect complete Gear with free will. This, of course, backfires when Justice realizes Gears are merely weapons for mankind and becomes a genocidal killbot whose only mission is to wipe out the human race.

To even the odds, humans created another weapon that could amplify magic; the Outrage. Based on the research of the Saint Oratorio, an all-powerful and destructive spell, this Anti-Gear Weapon was so strong that it had to be separated into eight pieces, known as the Sacred Treasures.

The Holy War, as it was known, lasted more than 100 years. Finally, under the leadership of Ky Kiske, the humans sealed Justice in an alternate dimension and ended the war.

Unfortunately, the peace was short-lived.

Now, in 2180, there are rumors that the gear Testament is reviving Justice. The Union of Nations has announced the Second Sacred Order Tournament, a fighting tournament to find combatants who can defeat Testament. Ten fighters, including the mysterious and aptly-named Sol Badguy, will enter, but only one can leave victorious and claim a prize to acquire whatever they desire.
